Investing is not the same as saving. When you save, your money sits in a bank account with little growth, safe but slow. Investing, on the other hand, means buying assets that can grow much faster.

Few types of investment assets:

1. Stocks
   Owning stocks means you have a share in a company’s ownership. You can make money from stocks in two ways:

• Dividends: Some companies pay out part of their earnings to shareholders as dividends, usually quarterly. The amount you receive depends on how many shares you own.
• Capital Gains: This is when you sell your stock for more than you paid for it.

Cryptocurrencies
Investing in cryptocurrencies carries a high risk and requires thorough research.

Bonds
Bonds are loans you give to a company or government. In return, they agree to pay back the principal amount on a set date, plus regular interest payments, known as coupon payments. Bonds can be sold before their maturity date, potentially at a profit if their market value has risen.

Funds (Mutual Funds and ETFs)
Mutual Funds and ETFs allow investors to own a piece of many different investments, providing diversification without the need to buy each asset individually. ETFs are traded on stock exchanges and often have lower fees compared to Mutual Funds.

Real Estate
Investing in property can offer income through rent or potential profit from selling at a higher price. However, real estate investments usually require significant upfront capital and are less liquid, meaning they can take longer to sell without losing value.

Commodities
Commodities can fluctuate based on supply and demand, quality, and external factors like economic conditions. Commodities can serve as a hedge against inflation or economic uncertainty.

Cryptocurrencies
Investing in cryptocurrencies carries a high risk and requires thorough research.

4 main components for personal finance:

• Net Worth (i.e. Measuring your wealth)
• Emergency Funds (i.e. Minimising your risk)
• Budgeting (Cash flow control)
• Investing (Growing your money)

Net Worth
The formula for increasing net worth is simple yet effective: increase your income and reduce your spending. One way to do it is by engaging in freelance work and continuously learning new skills to boost your income. At the same time, be mindful of your spending habits as well!

Emergency Funds
You should have a backup plan for unexpected financial emergencies! Are you prepared for unforeseen circumstances that might require immediate financial resources? If you don’t, start building an emergency funds, like right now! And while the insurance agents may seem like they’re trying to earn your money, having a solid medical insurance is very crucial and everyone should get one.

Budgeting
You should aim to save or invest 20% of your income. For beginners, you’re recommends following the 50/30/20 budgeting rule, which divides your income into essentials, wants, and savings. This will definitely help in managing your finances effectively, making sure you have your future in shield while also living your life to the fullest!

Investing
Bottom line is, investing is different from gambling. To invest it correctly, you should explore various asset classes and understand the importance of diversifying your investments! It helps to mitigate risk while maximizing potential returns, stay tune for my coming video about invesitng!

Of course we have to talk a little bit on inflation! I’ve explained how it affects the economy and our wallets, why your money today worths more than its value tomorrow. It’s a complex topic, but I promise to make it easy to grasp.

Interest rates sound like headache to lots of people, but it isn’t really as difficult as you would have thought! You’ll find out how they are set by central banks, like Bank Negara Malaysia, and how they influence everything from your savings account to your loans.

I also cover the basics of supply and demand. Through simple examples, like a popular burger stand, you’ll see how these forces determine the prices of everything around us. When there’s demand, there will always be supply to it!
